Every year on Instagram artists join with the #36days of type challenge. The goal is to create one letter or number a day, following the timeframe that the hosts have shared beforehand. There's no other rules, which means that results vary widely from artist to artist.
One year, I decided to join and give myself a little prompt to get me started every day. My idea was to take a plant or flower, and an insect or animal starting with the letter for that day. Which meant I got to draw a bunch of subjects I hadn’t tried drawing before. On the first day I made a couple different style tests, and decided to go with the style you can now see on this page.
